Featuring Music with the California Honeydrops

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 26, but please don’t wear a costume. With Wednesday falling a full 4 days before it’s actually Halloween, that just wouldn’t make any sense!

Instead, please Dress-to-Impress in Black and Gold for our special Not-Quite Halloween Dance Party!

Why Black & Gold? Well, to us, Gold is the color of Honey…and the California Honeydrops will be performing for us that night!

We also have 3 contests in store, with one winner for each contest receiving a free drink at the bar as well as a month of free Cat’s Corner Dance Party Admission. Here’s what’s in store:

Nathan and Michael Terkowski will be DJing from 12-3pm on Valencia Street somewhere between 20th & 23rd streets (exact spot to be determined on the day of the event).

About Sunday Streets

Sunday Streets is a series of events put on by the City of San Francisco to encourage health, community and fun, inspired by similar events in cities throughout the world.  A Sunday Streets event creates a large, temporary, public space by closing off stretches of a neighborhood’s streets to automobile traffic, and opening them to pedestrians, bicyclists, and activities for several hours on a predetermined Sunday.

Come out this Monday evening for our first ever Swing Night on United Nations Plaza!

This free outdoor event features live music with Macy Blackman and the Mighty Fines, a dance lesson with Nathan and Shirley from Cat’s Corner, a performance by Michael and Claire of Motion Explosion Dance, and an outdoor dance floor. It also kicks off the new Dance On Market event series brought to you by Denia Dance.

Cats Corner dance classes bring you fresh perspectives on Lindy Hop and Swing all September long, featuring guest instructors from the Motion Explosion Dance Company and Shades of Blues!

Michael Terkowski and Claire Oldfield

8pm Intermediate Lindy Hop

Michael & Claire have been teaching in the bay area for 3 years in venues such as The Rent Party, Avenue Dance Studio and 9:20 Special. They are the founders of the Motion Explosion Dance Company, a group specializing in energetic and creative fusion of Swing, Jazz and Hip Hop.

At Cats Corner they will teach fun lessons that bundle versatile moves and solid technique with creative and musical inspiration, encouraging each student to be self-expressive and get more mileage from the moves they already know.

Ruth Hoffman (teaching with Nathan)

7pm Beginning Lindy Hop & 9pm Beginning Swing

Ruth skipped into her first dance class more than 25 years ago, and has since been training in as many dance styles as she can get her feet on. Dance takes her all over the world, from judging blues competitions at North Star Blues to a recent Argentine Tango teaching residency in Indonesia.

When not traveling, Ruth resides in San Francisco, where she teaches workshops, classes and private lessons and finds time to run her weekly blues dance venue, Shades of Blues. Passionate about teaching and with over 14 years of experience, she brings a balance of technical precision and silly fun.

$4 Draft Beers and $5 Well Drinks

Savanna Jazz Club was astounded with the amount of drinks consumed a few Wednesdays ago when dancer and Cats Corner regular Jeremy Cooper sponsored an open bar! As a result, they’ve extended new dancer-friendly prices on draft beer and well drinks…exclusively for us dancers on Wednesdays!

Sip a refreshing drink at the bar, cheers to Jeremy…and don’t forget to tip your bartender!
