Put on your black turtleneck, tilt that beret, and bring a little café-poet attitude to the dance floor.
This Wednesday, Cat’s Corner is leaning into our North Beach roots for Beatnik Ball — a night inspired by the neighborhood’s legendary jazz, poetry, art, and late-night bohemian spirit.
We’re dancing just steps from City Lights Bookstore, Vesuvio Café, Jack Kerouac Alley, and generations of artists, writers, musicians, and beautiful weirdos who helped make North Beach one of San Francisco’s most iconic creative neighborhoods. So come ready to get a little poetic between dances.
Dress cool, creative, and danceable: black turtlenecks, berets, stripes, dark sunglasses, scarves, loafers, cigarette pants, pencil skirts, vintage dresses, sport coats, goatees real or imagined, and anything that says, “I wrote this poem on a napkin at 2 AM.”
And yes — the theme is Beatnik, but the floor will be all swing.
