Swing Rueda Workshop
Learn the super fun circle group dance that uses familiar lindy hop moves to trade partners in response to a caller! It’s Lindy Hop meets Simon Says mashed up with Ring-Around-the-Rosie! Practice the basic movements and rules of the dance such as Dame, Dame Otra, Inside & Outside Turn, plus learn trickier partner change combos that are goofy fun.
No previous Rueda experience is needed, but you must be proficient with these lindy hop basics: swingouts & lindy circle, 8-count turns, 6-count turns and side-by-side charleston.
Featuring are Karina Denike on vocals, Michael McIntosh on piano, Sam Rocha on bass, and the irrepressible Randy Odell on percussion, the Cottonails are one of San Francisco’s most exciting musical groups, playing a wide range of styles ranging from 20’/30’s Gatsby-era jazz, classic 40’s swing, and vintage 50’s/60’s R&B.
*Regular Cat’s Corner classes and party resume at Swedish American Hall the following week on February 28.
